QNADA Training Programs
QNADA does not provide direct training but will broker training where there is a demand from members. The following opportunities are currently being negotiated:
- In response to the disasters affecting Queensland at the beginning of 2011. QNADA researched the Sector on behalf of QHealth to assess the demand for Mental Health First Aid and Psychological First Aid Training. As a result, Queensland Health is working with us to roll out this training in 2012. This will be free and delivered in Brisbane and regional areas.
- Suicide ASIST Training for counsellors - Australian College of Community Services
- Suicide ASIST Training T4T – provided by the National Centre for Suicide Prevention Training
Increased use of alcohol or other drugs may be a warning sign ofsuicide and is more common among people who are considering taking their own life.
In 2006, 34% of all people who completed suicide had substance misuse problems (Commonwealth of Australia, 2007).
